Service Delivery Improvement Initiative
Vancouver Local Immigration Partnership brings together a diverse group of organizations across Vancouver that aim to work together in order to support newcomers to thrive in Vancouver. The Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) initiative, funded by IRCC, is developing a Community Connector model across six Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) to better support newcomer integration.
Who We Serve:
The Community Connector links immigrants, and refugees to essential community-based services, including housing, healthcare, education, legal aid, employment, settlement, language support, and other social services, with the goal of reducing barriers and promoting long-term integration.
The Outcomes of the Community Connector Initiative
The Newcomers:
- Develop skills to meet basic settlement needs and personal and/or career goals
- Increased their knowledge about different life skills and community services (e.g. employment, education, health, language skills)
- Feel more connected to their community
- Improve overall feeling of life in Canada
